Motion Studies
About this project:
In this ongoing project, I have been exploring movement and form within the natural world, with a focus on how animal motion can be observed, analysed and manipulated through photography. I am particularly interested in how movement can be broken down into individual moments, which show patterns and structures that are not visible to us in real life. For this project, I took inspiration from Eadweard Muybridge and his 1884-85 animal locomotion studies, and built on it with a more modern take, and a focus on digital exhibition. I have made a series of motion studies using a range of formats, including video, still images and flipbooks, experimenting with how time and movement can be represented.
